San Juan Night
23 June

At the beginning of the summer, the magical night of San Juan is celebrated.  According to the legend, a great amount of bonfires should be lit on the eve of the feast of San Juan Bautista, during the night of 23rd to 24th in June in order to give strength to the sun. The coastline becomes a landscape of light and heat. The tradition is to light bonfires in the beach; at midnight, the bravest people jump over the fire to dispel bad spirits. Swimming in the sea or washing your face with salty water promise beauty throughout the year. The flames will destroy the worst moments suffered during previous years. And of course, the celebration of San Juan is the perfect excuse to spend a night in the beach with family, friends and acquaintances.
