Opened in 1883, the factory is the only sugar factory in Motril that has been almost completely preserved. It was in operation for over a century and played a key role in sugar production, witnessing the economic boom of the region. In the same complex, there is a themed restaurant “Restaurante Museo del Azúcar” and a splendid temporary exhibition hall of over 800 m2, “El Almacén del Azúcar”.
