Due to its geographical location between the Sierra Nevada mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, Motril plays host to a variety of natural spaces with the typical ecosystem of the South of Spain and others influenced by the microclimate of this area.  Coastal areas such as the Sacratif Cape and the cliffs of Calahonda; fluvial environments like the canyon of the Tajo de los Vados dominated by the Guadalfeo river and its delta; humid areas; the subterranean wonders of the Karst of Calahonda and, finally, the mountain range of the Cuerda del Jaral through a cork grove are among the diverse scenery that visitors will have the opportunity to explore and to preserve.
