The folklore from Andalusia, the religious devotion and the most rooted traditions in Motril related to the sugar cane and agriculture are the main pillars of the fiestas which are celebrated during the year in the town and its nearby villages.
Although, there are celebrations during the whole year, spring and summer are the seasons when most of the festivities take place. Our excellent climate conditions make people to go out with enthusiasm and joy to celebrate and welcome their visitors. The historical events which have taken place in Motril are the base for a lot of celebrations. Easter, the Patron Saint festival of the Virgin of la Cabeza, the Cross Day or the maritime Patron Saint festival of the Virgin of Carmen are only some examples which go to show the enjoyment, music, happiness and respect. Light and colour, entertainment and culture combined attract many people.
